Momentarily on Hold 

You make a call and often you are put on hold. You might hear a recorded message saying  that momentarily someone will be with you. 

Momentarily? Just how long is momentarily? 

In some cases, you are on hold long enough to perform the following tasks: 

- long enough to have all the tires on your car rotated 

- long enough to get your bowling ball redrilled 

- long enough to geta bikini wax 

- long enough to pluck a medium sized chicken 

- long enough to enjoy a slice of lemon crème pie 

Ok, Ok, you get the idea.  But wouldn’t it be better if the recording stated that you would be on hold for an unknown period of time between a few minutes and three hours. 

One time when I was on hold, the recording stated that someone would be with me in 45 minutes. Really, 45 minutes.
