JUST PUSH THE BUTTON
Have you heard the sales pitch from one of the companies that sell these devices that signal for help?
If you fall, you can press a button on the device, and it will signal 911 that you need help. It’s not a bad idea and they seem to sell the things as the ads have been going on for years now.
It gives me the idea that there could be similar devices with a button that you could push, but under different circumstances.
How about one where you push the button that signals that you would like to have several people come to your house for some beers. Who likes to drink alone?
Or one where the button push would signal that you would like four to six people of Italian descent or Brazilian descent to join you for dinner.
Perhaps you would like to lift your spirits and with a button push you request a comedian to stop by or a jazz quartet or a juggler or a European historian or a dermatologist or someone to rotate the tires on your car or a French impressionist or –you get the idea.
Yes, such devices would be a boom to enjoyment, physical and mental health. People would be happier as they would feel more in control of their lives and their experiences since they could arrange for experiences of all kinds simply by pressing the buttons on their devices. When so many things are not controllable and so very frustrating as such, having more control in some areas can make all the difference between getting by and propelling oneself off the roof of a tall building.
